About:

I am a PhD student in professor Boris Vinatzer’s laboratory in the department of Plant Pathology, Physiology and Weed Science at Virginia Tech, USA.

My research aims to understand the mechanisms involved in plant-microbe interaction using molecular biology approaches. Particularly, unravel what factors determines how bacterial communities or the microbiome assemble on plant leaf and how the bacterial communities that succeeded in colonizing plants are affected by their surroundings.

Currently, I want to understand:

  • Where the phyllosphere microbiome comes from?

  • How microbes interact with each other on the phyllosphere environment, and how microbes interact with the plants on which they live.

  • Does the plant immune system has an effect on which bacteria colonize its leaves? and How this affect the outcome of plant-pathogen interactions?.
