1) Investigating the role of rain as a source of the tomato leaf microbiome
My research thesis is focused on the analysis of the bacterial structure of the rain microbiome and how it influences the tomato leaf microbiome.
More generally, I am interested in revealing the source of the plant leaf microbiome, its role in plant immunity and how plant immunity may play a role in the establishment of specific bacterial communities.
2) Members of the rain microbiome as potential biopesticides
Some members of the rain microbiome, well adapted to environmental stresses, have shown antagonistic effect against a wide range of plant pathogens.
